Features:
The Amprobe AT-5005 with A-frame ground fault locator discovers the location and depth of pipes, cables, and wires that have been buried up to 20 feet in the ground. It has a transmitter and a receiver and offers three location modes. In passive power mode, the receiver detects current emitted by buried power lines. In passive radio mode, the receiver detects radio waves conducted by buried objects. In active mode, the transmitter induces a frequency into a buried pipe, cable, or wire, and the receiver detects the frequency to trace the buried feature. The AT-5005 comes with an A-frame ground fault locator for discovering faults in buried telecommunications and power cables.
The transmitter has three user-adjustable active frequency presets (one low-range frequency, one mid-range frequency, and one high-range frequency) to provide better accuracy in locating a buried feature compared to a single-frequency transmitter. The transmitter can provide up to 10 watts (W) of power for boosting signal strength. The guidance coil feature shows the direction of the signal and indicates when the buried feature changes direction. The centerline guidance feature indicates the direction the receiver needs to move in order to be on top of the target feature. The output control feature increases or decreases the strength of the transmitter's signal output. The receiver has two signal gain settings for adjusting its signal sensitivity. In automatic signal gain mode, the receiver adjusts its sensitivity based on the strength of the signal being emitted by the buried feature, for quick locating. In manual signal gain mode, the user adjusts the receiver’s sensitivity for precise locating in areas with interference. The signal select and distortion alert features help filter out signal interference from surrounding features when tracing a specific fixture.
The data-logging feature stores measurements and images for future reference and creates job tickets for individual sessions. The receiver and transmitter are Bluetooth enabled for transferring data and images to and from the transmitter, receiver, or another Bluetooth-capable device, and for pairing up to six transmitters to one receiver. A data port on receiver transmits information to a computer using a data cable (not included). The Amprobe AT-5005 comes with a connection cable and alligator clip for connecting the transmitter to the buried pipe, cable, or wire to be traced. It also comes with a ground stake, cable, and alligator clip for grounding the transmitter when it is directly connected to the buried fixture. A nylon carrying case helps protect the receiver and transmitter from damage during transportation and storage, and a pouch organizes the ground stake, cables, and alligator clips. The receiver and transmitter can resist drops up to three feet. As defined by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard 60529, the unit has an ingress protection rating of IP 54, meaning it resists the ingress of dust and splashing water.
